3D visualization of Vel'ké Pole
This 3D visualization shows three periods of time in the village of Vel'ké Pole. The data basis for the period 1860 and the starting point for the other two periods is the cadastral map from 1860 on a scale of 1: 2,880, which provide the house footprints and landuse. The landuse is assumed to be unchanged for all time periods. The number of buildings has been interpolated according to existing historical sources for the years 1660 and 1760. The thinning of the houses takes place with an automatic algorithm without knowing the actually existing buildings of these years. Specific information could only be used for the church and the school building next to it.
The "Hochwieser Schanz" (entrenchment) on the eastern edge of the village was built around 1660 to protect against Turkish attacks. Their shape was constructed in the 3D visualization according to comparable jumps from that time. The hill was then successively digitally dismantled for the periods 1760 and 1860. The location of the entrenchment can still be seen in most parts of the area.
