From the 23-24 September 2024 the “Transformative Pathways: Place-shaping in Peri-urban Landscapes” conference was hosted at the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences on behalf of the WopedyP team. The mini conference also presented in workshop format provided the opportune moment for project partners to present papers about emerging findings, to reflect on progress, and to explore avenues to strengthen the multi-disciplinarity of the research.
The WopedyP team were joined by three established scholars who shared their own project experiences in related research fields. Dr. Daniel Wyss (Göttingen University) shared experiences from research conducted in Namibia. Dr. Janina Kleemann (Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg) presented insights from her published research about dynamics in peri-urban spaces in West Africa and Europe. Prof. Dr. Carsten Butsch (University of Bonn) joined online to share pathway ideas from his research in the H2O-T2S project in India. The WopedyP team and the scholars identified areas of alignment between the presented research activities and methodologies. Most importantly, the visiting scholars and team came up with valuable insights and pointers to guide the research process towards completion.
