A meeting was requested by WoPedyP with the administrators of the Ga-Mothapo traditional council. On the 31st of August 2022 the WoPedyP research group (UL; UP and HKA) visited the Ga-Mothapo traditional authority with the aim to discuss pressing issues that the women in the community are facing. Ten members of the traditional council were present to represent the queen of the Mothapo area. The counsil provided a historical background of the Mothapo area and the traditional authority. Issues around land development and land distributions were addressed to give the project partners a better understanding of the project’s study areas. Services that are provided to the community by the Ga-Mothapo traditional authority and the counsellor appointed by the municipality were clearly stated. The Ga-Mothapo traditional council further highlighted issues around conflicts between the traditional author and the elected counsellors.
