ISRSE39, 2023: The 39th International Symposium on Remote Sensing of Environment took place in Antalya, Turkey, from April 24 to 28, 2023. This conference has been well-known in the Remote Sensing community since its inception and hence was a natural choice for presenting my research on the WoPedyP project. The theme of the conference, 'From Human Needs to SDGs' aligned with the overall aims of the WoPedyP project.

Amidst the many themes featured at the conference, the presentation on ground truth findings on Mankweng & surroundings was presented on the session on 'Sustainable Cities'. The emphasis was on sharing key findings from a ground truthing effort undertaken during field visits between June and September 2022, subsequently publishing a conference proceedings paper, and making the insights available to the scientific community.

Presenting the research findings to an international audience with shared scientific interests was a delightful experience. Moreover, the conference provided an opportunity to gain knowledge about practical applications and novel remote sensing approaches within the field of sustainable development. Not to mention how remote sensing technology and techniques can be leveraged to accelerate the process of achieving the SDGs. The proportion of attendees by country and gender at a symposium on remote sensing caught my attention as an extra topic of interest. However, this will not be a topic of discussion in this post and will remain hazy for now! Overall, the ISRSE39 conference proved to be a worthwhile experience.
